Who Has the Cheapest Homeowners Insurance Quotes in Ohio?

This post was originally published on this site

Ohio is a state that has a little something to offer just about everyone, especially people trying to find a home and raise a family. And while there are plenty of homes to find or even build, that’s only the first step. You will need to make sure that the home is protected from the elements and more, and that means not only installations but measures such as getting a homeowners insurance policy. There are plenty of excellent providers in the state, and we did research to determine the cheapest and best among them.

Here are the three cheapest homeowners insurance providers operating in Ohio:

The Three Cheapest Quotes:

Ohio is comprised of different regions and types of homes, and not everyone is going to receive the same quote. As such, we ask that you consider the information and average rates listed below as general guides and not exact future predictions.

The number listed next to each provider is the average annual rate for a standard policy.

1) State Farm: $1,166

The cheapest in Ohio as they are in much of the rest of the country, State Farm is a country-wide provider of effective, easy-to-understand, and affordable insurance policies. They’re a great choice if you are looking to move along quickly, just need to fulfill a requirement, or just want to cover the basic threats.

State Farm might be too simple for some homeowners, however, and those who have unique homes or possessions will find their needs best served elsewhere. There also aren’t too many discount options, so State Farm might, in the end, be more expensive than competitors with them, should they be properly utilized.

You can expect the following working with State Farm:

  • An online platform that is among the best out there, complete with an accurate and quick quoting tool.
  • The benefits of working with an extremely stable and experienced insurance provider.
  • A reasonable amount of dedication to customer satisfaction.

2) Nationwide: $1,206

Another insurance provider that operates across the country, Nationwide is known for its solid homeowners coverage and the ability to modify that coverage in order to better fit the needs of your home. With lots of possibilities to look through, you might think them overwhelming, but they will be happy to guide you through the process and ensure every part of your home is protected.

While there’s a lot to like about Nationwide, there are also a few things you should be concerned about. While there’s nothing wrong with their optional coverages, they are surprisingly expensive if you compare them to what other providers charge for them. Additionally, their customer service is alright, but nothing to write home about.

You can expect the following working with Nationwide:

  • Plenty of flexibility when it comes to your policy.
  • Discounts available for the following: getting a protective device installed, staying claim-free, bundling, making a recent home purchase, and more.
  • A free regular review to help you make sure you’re getting the best possible coverage.

3) Allstate: $1,364

Slightly more expensive than our first two options, Allstate might not have as many options as Nationwide or be as simple as State Farm, but it does differentiate itself by having optional coverages not necessarily found elsewhere (or elsewhere so cheaply). If your home has special needs or if you’re looking for special coverages, check to see if Allstate has what you’re looking for.

Yet as the most expensive option on average, we would have hoped to see more from their customer service team, but unfortunately, this is not the case. Whether it’s pushy agents, slow service, or another issue, you might find yourself repeatedly inconvenienced when working with Allstate.

You can expect the following working with Allstate:

  • Optional coverages such as but not limited to: water backup, garden and landscaping, identity theft restoration, business property, umbrella, and scheduled personal property.
  • A high level of reliability and transparency in their dealings with you.
  • Excellent mobile and online apps alongside a helpful library of information to help you understand your insurance plan.

Other Notable Ohio Homeowners Insurance Providers

There are plenty of additional homeowners insurance providers that we could not determine an accurate average annual rate for. We wanted to make sure that you also knew about the following two companies:

4) Liberty Mutual

Liberty Mutual may not be as outstanding in most areas as other companies listed here, but they are a solid choice for many homeowners looking for a balanced plan. They have plenty of discount opportunities to keep rates low, and we recommend at least getting a quote from them to see how they compare.

Yet Liberty Mutual has some issues when it comes to claims, especially in terms of them always getting accepted when they should be and this happening in a timely manner. This can understandably make some homeowners nervous, and you probably shouldn’t choose Liberty Mutual if you consider yourself one of them.

You can expect the following working with Liberty Mutual:

  • Optional coverages for valuables, water backup, and identity fraud expenses.
  • An inflation protection endorsement available so that you won’t have to worry about rising material and labor costs.
  • Many different customer support channels and options.

5) Progressive

Progressive isn’t an insurance provider for the most part, but we included it here because for many people it is the best route to finding the cheapest option. Instead, they are a service that in many ways will act like an agent, asking you questions about your home and situation in order to help you find a few choices to pick from. They might have a partner they underwrite their own policies with, as well.

Yet while they present you with plenty of options, you might not get the full scope of information you need. Progressive can be cheap, but you’ll also want to make sure you’re getting everything you want. This will require additional reading and research, so prepare to set some time aside for this.

You can expect the following working with Progressive:

  • Plenty of different options once you get your quotes, no matter how much coverage you need.
  • Consistent dedication to finding you the cheapest rate for a policy in your area.
  • Tools and apps available to help you understand your options, your needs, and your eventual policy.

Ohio, no matter where you come from or what your plans are, has a place for you. But in order to secure your home, you need to consider every possibility and prepare for it. And we think there is no better preparation than getting a homeowners insurance policy to rest easier each night. You don’t need to decide this second, so consider your priorities, take some notes, and we hope that you find a good fit soon.
